2nd Generation
Web Sites
Department of Energy
The U.S. Department of Energy National
Nuclear Security Administration web site, while modern, uses a no-nonsense business approach. There are link menus under
link menus. I believe this is a 2nd generation working web site.
Los Alamos National Laboratory
Although the Los Alamos National Laboratory's web
page contains pictures, a few icon related links, and the time and temperature, I still believe this is a 2nd generation web
page. Again, 90% of the links are simple text menu links with other menu links lower in the hierarchy.
3rd Generation
Web Sites
Jeopardy
The Jeopardy web page is quite interactive.
From the home page you can download screensavers, take virtual tours, play trivia and jeopardy, and apply to be a contestant
on the show. The page uses frames, icons, and text links to move people through the web site.
Pixar
This site puzzled me. I feel
that due to their position in the animation field that their site should be state-of-the-art. However, other than the
movie shorts, trailers, etc., I found it rather bland and lumpy to maneuver through. I still believe however that this
is a 3rd generation web site.
